Parks & the Eighth Council District, the City of Los Angeles and its departments of Cultural Affairs and Recreation and Parks, Los Angeles radio station KJLH 102.3 FM and special event producers Heritage Empowered Arts Legacy (H.E.A.L. Inc,) its partner IMAGIOVATION International and The Masked Minister for the Arts. What: “Changing Dreams to Reality”; “The Kingdom Day Parade, Gospel Fest and Los Angeles 44th Inauguration Celebration” a citywide event. On this day the City of Los Angeles celebrates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his visions for America. We will acknowledge Dr. King's “I Have A Dream” speech fulfillment and celebrate Barack Obama's, "There is not a Black America and a White America and a Latino America and a Asian America and a Indian America - there's only the United States of America" Presidential quest fulfillment. The Kingdom Day Parade annually concludes in the City of Los Angeles Urban Arts Mecca, Leimert Park; here there will be two stages: (1) a Celebrity / Media stage sponsored by Mr. Stevie Wonder and his radio station KJLH 102.3 FM and LA’s own Jayne Kennedy-Overton will be the Mistress of Ceremonies. This stage will be open to guest to come up on and express there admiration and adulation for Dr. King and President – Elect Barack Obama, and (2) a performance stage with LA’s own premier Radio Host Mr. James Janisse, with a tribute with the reading of Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech and musical performances celebrating these two distinguished African-American heroes.” When: January 19, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., a day of acknowledgement celebrated by Los Angelinos of every persuasion and walk of life. Where: Beginning at the City of Los Angeles Urban corridors of Normandie Ave. and LA’s Historic Martin Luther King Blvd up to famed Crenshaw Blvd to Los Angeles Urban Arts Mecca, the historic Leimert Park. Why: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was America’s First African-American world ambassador for “PEACE & UNITY,” now Americans have the 44th President Barack Obama, whom the world looks to, for the return of Civility, Compassion, Humanity and Leadership to the world, as the United States of America’s “First President of African American Ancestry.” |
